KUALA LUMPUR, Tuesday, 18 March 2023: In conjunction with Global Recycling Day, which fell on 18 March 2023, Radium Development Berhad’s HR Department organised an Environmental Protection Talk by Ms Jessie, Environment Protection Representative from Tzu Chi Foundation Malaysia, was held in conjunction with Global Recycling Day.
The session, which was attended by 22 Radium’s employees, was aimed at sharing knowledge and some of the best practices in environmentalism. It included tips on how individuals and organisations can get kick-start their own recycling habits and initiatives, ideas on how to go beyond recycling and into repurposing and upcycling, and examples from Tzu Chi Foundation’s own efforts.
Tzu Chi Foundation’s philosophy on the environment emphasises the importance of individual efforts in reducing waste and pollution. It actively promotes waste reduction and recycling, and its main asset is that individual citizens can personally get involved in recycling work. Tzu Chi’s model for environmental protection includes the concept of “circular economy”, which entails collecting and recycling trash to produce recycled materials and eco-products, then spreading the message to have a global influence.
Radium Development Berhad Group Managing Director Datuk Gary Gan said: “As a homegrown property developer, we are mindful of our responsibility towards minimising any negative impact to the environment and communities we operate in. Our motto, ‘Building Good’, goes beyond building structures for people to work and live in. It encompasses our promise to build spaces where communities can grow and thrive, which includes protecting our environment for future generations.”
The talk followed the Group’s earlier educational visit to a Tzu Chi Centre in [location], where several employees from various departments had first-hand view of how the organisation undertakes its environmental efforts.
